Day 4

Day 4: 20 miles

It was a cold and windy day and got a couple inches of snow this morning. The temperature didn’t get above freezing all day so it was hard to keep my water and water filter from freezing.

I used my microspikes for the first time with all the snow. At first they were just gathering clobs of dirt and ice but later in the day they were helpful. Might as well use them if I brought them.

My speed definitely slowed down with the snow but it’s just something I’ll have to get used to. I ended my day pretty early, around 5 cause my feet were soaked and I didn’t want to do too much damage this early (graphic content warning for last picture). I’m going to try to get up early tomorrow and knock out a decent amount of miles while the snow is still frozen solid hopefully.

I crossed the Georgia-North Carolina state border. So 1 state is officially down!
