Day 57
March 3, 2021

Day 57: 25 miles
The day was off to a good start with me officially crossing the Delaware into New Jersey and starting with good trail. The first half the day was a well traveled part of the trail so the snow was really packed down and I was fine just walking with my microspikes on. But later in the day was much less traveled so the snow wasn’t packed down and as the sun was melting the snow it just got much more difficult. My pace really slowed down in the second half the day and the day took me longer than it should have. Sometimes after dark I’d be postholing above my knees just hoping wherever I stepped wasn’t a void so I’d just collapse into the snow.
So far Jersey has been the land of ponds and reservoirs and it looks like this is going to continue. Some of them looked frozen pretty solid and I could’ve saved some time cutting across but with the beating sun and warm temperature I thought I’d take the long way around.
Overall just didn’t feel great today. Doing high knees the whole second half of the day was tiring. But the sun is shining and tomorrow is a new day. Earn it
