Day 74-75

Getting to New Mexico

Day 74-75

Stayed with a cult Friday night. If you’re familiar with the AT you’ll know what I’m talking about. Definitely one of the oddest days of my life. I’m starting to question what I’ll put myself through to save a buck

Saturday passed through Brandon, VT and headed to Burlington to checked out the city a little and beautiful lake Champlain.

Sunday had a 2 hour flight to a 4 hour flight to hanging out in the Phoenix airport for 7 hours to a 5 hour bus ride to get to lordsburg, NM 18 hours after I left this morning.

My only goal the last few days was to get a haircut but I’m gonna fail smh

It felt good to start sending winter gear home, and I’ll be sending home even more when I get to New Mexico. Looking over the desert from the plane was a little intimidating knowing I have to walk through that arid desolate land.

On a lighter note, BRING ON THAT NEW MEXCIO HEAT. I’m ready to finally fly after shedding most of this winter clothes and gear. It’ll still get fairly cold at night but it’ll still be infinitely better than the AT. And I haven’t done much desert hiking so I’m sure I will be doing a decent amount of getting lost out there too but the terrain will be so much more generous. The biggest thing I’ll need to change is my water consumption. I hardly drank any water on the AT, probably less than 2 liters most days. That’s gonna need to change if I want to live.

Mfs at the airport took my mini pocket knife and peanut butter. If I can hijack an airplane with peanut butter then I deserve it.

I have done a pretty poor job of marketing so far but I’d like to again say that I am doing a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention! If you would like to, please donate at the link in my bio!

The CDT is much more remote so reception will be much less common so my interactions will be less frequent but I’ll post when I can!

About Me

I'm from rural Ohio and had never camped or backpacked until 2018. Just 3 years later I completed a Calendar Year Triple Crown as my first thru hiking experience and now have ~15,000 miles of backpacking under my trail runners.
